Every Koi-fish owner is hoping to avoid infections and parasites among his Koi-fish population

An attentive owner will very quickly suspect the presence of parasites on a fish. parasites can be easily identified with rather small 100 to 400x magnifications. However, sometimes a 1000 times magnification will be needed in order to detect very small parasites in a smear. Parasites can also infect the fish 

Wounds on fish can easily happen and this can not only be disaster for the fish himself but also start a real epidemic among the whole fish population. Fast discovering of ulcers, gill flukes (Dactylogyrus), a fungus, freshwater white spot disease (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis), trichodina, ichthyobodo or louses is - besides a good water quality and healthy feeding of the fish - crucial for maintaining the fish population healthy
